Pat Robertson: Islam is a Political System

No kidding! In an amazing moment of clarity, Pat Robertson declares that Islam is in reality an ideology motivated by political power.

Of course, this is not news to most of us. Organized religion is an irrational ideology with political aims (what else could it be? legitimate theology?) and because it's built on vapor, it has better-than-average B.S. There are lots of American social conservatives freaking out about Islam at the moment. The obvious challenge to Robertson while he's having his insight seizure: how is Islam different from Christianity in this regard?

And a challenge to atheists: is Islam actually worse? Why or why not? On what basis?

Did you miss the best (for certain values of 'best') part of his speech?

"And I think we should treat it as such and treat its adherences as such as we would members of the Communist Party or members of some fascist group."

Of course, once you start rounding up members of one group, you pretty much become a fascist group and have to get rounded up yourself, right?

Who rounds ups the rounder uppers? Monsanto!

I agree with Pat. Islam is a poisonous, predatory, supremacist, totalitarian political ideology masquerading as a religion.

This is exactly why theists are just as nervous to let the flock be exposed to other religions as they are to arguments against their own. It becomes harder (though not impossible) to compartmentalize when you start making explicit critical arguments against other religions.

Monsanto? Now hey. Let's not start criticizing biotech. Because that IS sacred. :)

If making a pun about weed killer is wrong, I don't want to be right!

Moss, you'll have to forgive me if I'm unable to see the masquerade. It sounds like just about every religion out there (possible exceptions: Jainists and Quakers?)
