Post-Surgical Feelings of Spiritual Transcendence

University of Udine researchers show in Neuron that post-tumor-resection from the parietal cortex, people experience a sense of spiritual transcendence. These feelings are real, though I hope I don't have get brain surgery to continue experiencing them (usually a nice long run in a redwood forest works).

The point? These experiences are the result of completely material, non-mystical brain changes. We are chemistry. What's the difference between these people's experience and the one Paul had on the road to Damascus? Serious question.
