Changing To a More Affordable Religion

From the Phnom Penh Post (via Marginal Revolution):  some people in Cambodia are switching from their syncretic Theravada Buddhism to Christianity so they can make cheaper sacrifices to a god to improve their health.

One can't be blamed for wondering how seriously these folks take either religion as a real description of how the universe works.  Much like when people convert to a new religion to satisfy their spouse-to-be:  rarely are these things accompanied by an epiphany that the new brand name really has its stuff together.
